Maintenance of motorcycle battery

I. inspection and supplement of battery liquid level

the battery liquid level must be between the upper and lower limits, and must not be lower than the lower limit. If it is lower than the lower limit, it must be supplemented in time. When replenishing, do not inject dilute sulfuric acid again, otherwise the battery will be damaged due to too high electrolyte concentration. It is also not allowed to add tap water, river water, etc. Because it contains calcium, magnesium plasma and impurities. When charging, these substances are adsorbed on the surface of the electrode plate due to ionization and damaged. If the power storage is unbalanced, it is easy to cause premature wear of the mechanical part and data error pool. Therefore, pure water, distilled water or red battery supplement liquid popular in the market must be added (the effect is good after practical use). The liquid level of the battery should be checked regularly, usually once a month. In summer, the temperature is high, so it is recommended to check and supplement once a half month. It should be noted that there is no need to check and supplement the liquid level of sealed maintenance free batteries, and never open the sealing cover

II. Check the state of the battery before charging

check whether the battery voltage is lower than the standard value. If possible, check whether the specific gravity of electrolyte is lower than 1.28 (20 ℃). To observe the inside of the battery, if one or several battery units baybend M750 also have good mechanical and thermal properties, corrosion occurs, the electrode plate turns white, or there is material accumulation at the bottom, or the electrode plate warps, the battery should be replaced. If the battery terminal is dirty and corroded or oxidized, it can be cleaned with a wire brush. If the cleaning is not clean, drop a little electrolyte to corrode the surface and wipe it dry with clean water

III. battery charging

this is an important part of battery maintenance, which directly affects the service life of the battery. When charging, the current should not be too large. It is recommended not to use fast charging. When charging, please use half of the rated charging current and double the rated charging time. When charging, put the battery into cold water for cooling (the water does not reach 4/5 of the battery). Because the battery releases a lot of heat during charging, if it is not dissipated as much as possible, the electrode plate will be bent and deformed, resulting in damage to the battery. During charging, the plug of unsealed battery shall be opened and carried out in a well ventilated place away from kindling to prevent explosion due to hydrogen produced by charging

IV. detection after battery charging

after battery charging, do not rush to test, but check after standing for 30 minutes. Otherwise, the state of the battery cannot be accurately reflected. First check and correct the liquid level, and then measure the voltage with a multimeter (preferably a digital multimeter). 12 volt (6 volt) batteries should be at or above 12.8 volts (6.4 volts). If it is lower than 12.7v (6.3V), it needs to continue charging. If it is below 12V (6V), the battery is damaged and should be replaced. It must be noted that the method of short-circuit ignition shall not be used to judge the current. A headlamp bulb with the same rated voltage as the battery can be connected with the battery and observe the light for 5 minutes. If the light turns dark or goes out, it indicates that the battery is damaged and should be replaced

in addition, the choice of charger is also very important. Chargers include variable voltage (current) type, constant voltage type, constant current type, etc. it is best not to use self-made chargers, accounting for 3.28%. For sealed maintenance free batteries, it is best to use a special charger. However, it should be noted that some constant voltage and constant current chargers cannot charge sealed maintenance free batteries

if the above methods are used to maintain the battery, the service life of the battery can be extended to five or six years
